It would be great to get a parts list, an overall cost and full routing of cables - Any specialist tools needed like spade crimpers etc, or are the looms already done?

Which coding did you use? And can check out if your EQ is working properly?

Some people on the German Born forum weren't able to get the right coding and the displayed EQ frequencies did not match the actual frequencies - likely because the codes were for the ID.3 whose EQ has less bands than the Born, namely using this:

8125
Function_configuration_audio
Channel 1 TT Activate
Channel 4 TT Activate
Signal_Flow_topology from 15 to 25

Yes my EQ is working perfectly, I used the above coding and I couldn’t select balance and fader, also had two faults in 8125 that wouldn’t clear but rear speakers were working, so I had to reverse the signal flow coding clear faults then re code that part again and that did the trick, I have full balance and fader also all EQ settings work too.

I bought the wiring from eBay

And instead of the standard 20w factory speakers I went for the focal plug and play kit
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233923599894 ... media=COPY

This video shows how to fit wiring and speakers, probably explains it better than I can.

I’ve only added the focal rear speakers but it sounds fantastic, had it on EQ Club but changed to individual setting.
Still can’t believe I bought a car without rear speakers but now it’s sorted I can move on.

I’ve also noticed the rear doors have blanking covers where the tweeters go but from what I understand the signal to the rear door speakers has been jacked up to give more tone so if you fit tweeters it will kill your ear drums, but there is some different versions in coding for channels 1 and 4 so might have a play around over the weekend.

Thanks again for sharing what you have done. I must admit that looks quite involved and I'll have to make a call on if I think I could do it or not.
First I need the car to figure out if we can live without a full speaker setup.

Looms are pre made but in German left hand drive cars have the MMI Unit on opposite side so our cars left and right looms need to be reversed.

They have the correct factory pins to fit MMI and door connectors, no crimping is necessary it’s all plug and play.

The speaker kit I got from focal had 2 x Bass speakers and 2 x Tweeters all with factory connectors, they also supplied the correct rivets but I didn’t use theses as I wanted to be able to remove them easily if they didn’t work.

I haven’t used the focal tweeters from the kit as it sounds good without them, I may look into fitting them to the rear doors as they fit the factory mounts perfectly but as I’ve said I think vw/ Cupra have jacked up the tone to the rear woofer speakers to give them a bit more natural sound so if you use speakers with built in tweeters it sounds wrong apparently, but I’ll look Ito this as the front speakers have extra coding activated on each channel TT and HT but rears just have TT, I think HT is high tone.
