Octopus do set a window for cheap electric but you also benefit from extra charging outside of that where if there is spare capacity in the grid it will charge at cheap rate. In my experience it was just a case of setting a schedule in my Ohme app and I've never had to think about it since.
You'll probably need to update the supplier details in the charger app as well though.
Intelligent Octopus schedule charging not working!!

But I read this and now it fills me with dread that I am going to have all this messing around trying to get it to work..... Cupra App this, Octopus App that, Zappi App this...
WHY can't there just be one App to control it? Even better, no App at all. Not everyone has a smart phone (granted most people do).
Why can't Octopus just set a time window where the rate is cheap and then the user sets his charger to use that window. I can't believe they need to switch the juice on and off during the night due to supply issues or to make use of the lulls in the supply demand. It's just all too complicated for it's own good.
This is one of my main problems with me Born. If there is a failed charge cycle while I am asleep, I am left with a car with limited range and then have to charge at a forecourt somewhere for an hour.
In theory, you should be able to set up the Octopus app to control everything. You don't need the Zappi app except for monitoring. You can turn off the Cupra Born "routines" and then you don't need the Cupra app.DrEVil2024 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 9:47 pm Well I am looking at going over to Octopus Intelligent imminently due to my high electric bills... Having said that, I haven't actually been able to make that work reliably.
You have to have a smartphone in order to get IOGo so that is not an issue.
Octopus do set a time window (23:30 - 05:30). You can then set the Cupra Born "Charge at preferred times" routine in the car to charge at any time within that window. Plug the car in, make sure the Zappi is set to "Fast", turn on the routine in the app and leave it to run. Octopus may set a charging plan, but the Cupra routine should override it.DrEVil2024 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 9:47 pm Why can't Octopus just set a time window where the rate is cheap and then the user sets his charger to use that window.
I've been through all the frustrations that you are experiencing with IOGo/Cupra/Zappi, and I turned the air blue a few times, but once I got it straight in my own head and worked out a strategy, it has worked perfectly for me ever since. I had a few extra wrinkles to work out because I have a solar panel + battery setup but now I have no worries. In fact, for the last two months, Octopus has been paying me more for exported energy than they have charged me for the Grid supply.

Yea.... I am just having that 'tired of tech' week to be honest.
I never use the Cupra app... I find it appallingly useless and just don't bother.
Currently, I plug in the Zappi and press start. That is it.
I am sure I will get it sorted out.
