hi , does anybody know which fuse is acceptable to hardwire and piggy back a Nextbase dash cam ? I have tried a couple of the lower rating fuses, 5 and 7.5 but the problem i have encountered is they seem to be a permanent live , not switched live and linked to the ignition ! Dash camera fuse is a 2 amp fuse .
Please help

Get yourself a simple two prong tester and go through your fuse box sequentially with the ignition OFF and then ON to identify any switched lives. Make sure you have a good earth point. It is a very simple process that will only take a few minutes. This is the only reliable way to identify fuses for switched lives as their positions could change from MY to MY or between model variants. I would use a piggyback fuse when installing the camera . You'll plug that into whichever higher amperage fuse you decide to use. You don't want to be blowing the car's own fuses when the camera fails. Also beware that some cameras have a low power mode that enables them to be permanently powered - depends on your use case. There is always an element of risk whenever you extend or piggyback a circuit but if it works, it works.
