Hi.
I'm looking for a set of winter wheels and have found some that I consider buying.
The dealers website claims it's a match, but I am not sure if they will fit.
Rims are 8,5" wide and 19" diameter - ET40
Tyres are 235-45-r19
Has anyone here seen a Born running on a similar setup?
Tyre size 235/45-r19

I’m wondering about the same size. Some 20” in Europe run on 235/40 and hoping I can substitute the 215/50 for 235/45 on the 19”.
Pretty sure they won't fit well - the 20" Firestorm wheels are the widest fitted to a Born, and they are 235/40R20 tyre size, on a 7.5" wide wheel with offset of 50

But then if offset is same in the 19, the 235 is same width so 235/45 might fit, no? I ignore the offset of the 19phope wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 6:59 pm Pretty sure they won't fit well - the 20" Firestorm wheels are the widest fitted to a Born, and they are 235/40R20 tyre size, on a 7.5" wide wheel with offset of 50

Also be aware that, in the UK, cars with Firestorm wheels have small plastic strips added to the wheel arches because the tyres extend slightly beyond the wheel arches and are therefore not compliant with UK safety law. If you fit the wider tyres you may have to fit those strips or face being stopped by traffic police and the car may fail its MOT.

I’m aware of the plastic thingy and I’m not in UK. Also, I’m quite sure Ireland’s Garda won’t be looking at my typhoon wheels and their size.alanjs wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 8:43 am Also be aware that, in the UK, cars with Firestorm wheels have small plastic strips added to the wheel arches because the tyres extend slightly beyond the wheel arches and are therefore not compliant with UK safety law. Not sure about the NCT but still new car so 4 years to go to get the first inspection.

The Guards might not care, but it will fail the NCT when the time comes.HotHatchFan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 2:48 pmI’m aware of the plastic thingy and I’m not in UK. I'm told by my tyre dealer that 235/45/R19s will fit the Cupra 19 inch rims but the OEM 19 inch rims have a slightly larger offset that the OEM 20 inch rims (by about 6mm) which means the tyres will protrude beyond the guards by a little more than the 235/40/R20s fitted to some V3 Borns. Thus they are reluctant to do it but I guess it depends on the jurisdiction you are in and what the tolerances are. I do wish Cupra had chosen a wheel and tyre combo that was a little more common than the 215/50R19s as the choice of tyres is a bit limited and inventory seems spotty (a big deal if you need a new tyre in a hurry).
