Switch off lane assist
We haven't received our Cupra Born V3 yet but I was hoping you good people here could help. My wife will get really mad if can't switch off the lane assist. Is ODB 11 the only option to achieve this permanently?

Its the only one I know of, i'm so glad there was the option to do it as its a horribly intrusive and poorly executed "driving aid".
You might find someone local willing to make changes for you - where are you?
I have OBD11 and am in Tyneside - if you're not far away I could help you out,

Thank you so much for the advice and offer of help. I'm down south in Berkshire. I'll probably buy the OBD 11 as this car will be wife's daily so need to make it work for her. She currently drives a Focus ST and previously Fiesta ST so Born probably best option.monkeyhanger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 2:31 pm Its the only one I know of, i'm so glad there was the option to do it as its a horribly intrusive and poorly executed "driving aid".

As automatic lane keep assist is mandatory on all UK vehicles as of 2022, turning it off with OBD 11 might lead to legal liability in case of an accident.
This is actually a UN regulation that the UK and many other countries have adopted:

It's mandatory to have the system, it's notmandatory to use it. VAG have set the system to come only default at every ignition cycle. OBD11 can tell the car to remember to leave it switched off until you switch it back on again. Nothing wrong with that.Elea4 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 6:40 am As automatic lane keep assist is mandatory on all UK vehicles as of 2022, turning it off with OBD 11 might lead to legal liability in case of an accident.

It's a poor system in that it ignores or doesn't see items that encroach your lane that you're giving a wide berth to parked cars, traffic cones for roadworks etc).

It’s a shame because it’s the most dangerous “safety feature” ever bloody conceived. Or the MEB implementation certainly is anyway.Elea4 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 1:38 pm "As has been discussed repeatedly No. it is a requirement for the Euro NCAP 5 star rating that it cannot be permanently switched off or disabled with a single press."

I find the one swipe, two press a on fairly large buttons, relatively easy on the Born. Was horrible on the ID3. Was so fiddly that you needed lane assist on to safely turn it off Was particularly difficult on my ID3 when one day on the motorway it got confused and kept trying to yank me left then right over and over again while I tried desperately to turn the sodding thing off with those tiny virtual buttons!
